After watching the Oscars I decided to illustrate my favorite looks on the red carpet this year.
First up is American TV/movie star Maria Menounos. I adored her romantic feminine Reem Acra gown. The dress had a very soft grecian drape and I love how the chiffon just seemed to mould itself around her body creating an extremley flattering look. The pistachio green colour was a very unique choice but she totally rocked it and it was very pretty against her golden complextion.
Next is someone who hardly fails to dissapoint in the style stakes – Penelope Cruz. Like Maria, she also opted for a chiffon dress from Armani Prive in a beautiful steel two tone grey/blue shade. This dress was very theatrical with a regal feel to it including a long full train. I love the fact that it was off the shoulder showing off her collarbone. With her hair in cascading waves and adorned with beautiful Harry Winston jewels she looked very old Hollywood.
I have been a fan of Penelope Cruz’s red carpet style for a some time now, and I love how she is not scared of drama and making a statment, but her choices still have a very ladylike look as well. My favorite gown was that iconic strapless Versace Atelier number she wore in 2007. Breathtaking as always.
Milla Jovovich looked stunning in an embellished one shouldered gown by my favorite designer Elie Saab. It looked fabulous on the red carpet and I love how she paired the shimmering silver white dress with red lips and minimal jewellery.
The next dress got some mixed reviews from people but I am definetley a fan of this look. Actress Rooney Mara in Givenchy. Someone commented in a magazine that her breasts resemble the Syndney Opera House (and they kinda do!!!) but still, inspite of this, I love it and I think she just dazzles and turns heads in this ensemble. The silhouette is almost architectural and paired with her blunt,bowl-cut fringe and red lips she looks look edgy yet elegant.
Last but not least is the queen of sultry Angelina Jolie. I think Angelina looks good in almost anything.
I was amazed at how great she looked demurely dressed at the Golden Globes in 2010. Even with a high neckline and no slits in sight she looked flawless and statuesque in the Versace sequinned green gown last year.
However this year she proves that she can still be sexy as ever and looks like a total bombshell and with her trademark pouty lips it’s the Angie we are all used to and have grown to love.
I’m not usually a fan of plain black dresses (I find them unimaginative and too safe) but this one has very a cool origami kind of drape to it. It’s sculptural, the neckline is artistic and paired with the thigh-length split she looks bold, daring and vampy.
